SEO and GEO: which layer of your site to fix first
If you want search and AI answers to describe your company, services, and contact details correctly, fix the name, the service pages, and the FAQs before adding more slogans. This note says which layer to change first, and how far we can take it.
Being quotable requires factual sentences on the page
This is for people about to change their site. By the end you can tell whether to unify the company name and contact details first, or to rewrite service pages from slogans into what you do, who it is for, and what gets handed over. VAV Agent's SEO / GEO work is that layer, written as pages you can check — not another coat of adjectives.
Many people read GEO (generative engine optimization) as 'make AI mention us more.' What models willingly quote are sentences that stand alone: who you are, what you do, how far you've taken it, where you serve, and how to reach you. A homepage piled with adjectives gives answer engines nothing to verify.
SEO cares whether a query finds the page and whether it gets indexed. GEO cares whether, once found, the extracted sentences misrepresent you. Both are done with the same set of pages — you don't build a second site 'for AI'.
Of the four layers, fix the contradictory one first
Entity layer: organization name, offerings, service area, contact details. Navigation, body copy, footer, and structured data must be one and the same. On its own site, VAV Agent consistently uses 'VAV Agent' everywhere, lists mainland China as the service area, and describes the working mode as remote.
Answer layer: every service page states outcome, audience, deliverables, and exclusions. Answers stay short and readable without the preceding sentence.
Markup layer: JSON-LD restates what the page already says — it doesn't invent a second description. sitemap.xml, canonical URLs, and llms.txt point to these pages, not to empty marketing lines.
Template layer: unique titles, readable content above the fold, scripts that don't block rendering. This layer affects indexing speed but cannot rescue a page without facts.
The order we recommend
If names and phone numbers disagree across pages, fix the entity layer first. Answer engines most easily describe such a site as two different companies.
If the name is consistent but service pages only say 'professional, efficient, one-stop', fix the answer layer. A page without deliverables won't become quotable by polishing its title.
Once the facts are clear, fix the template: unique titles, internal links, sitemaps, structured data, speed. At that point SEO and GEO are the same redesign.
Don't start by chasing one keyword's rank, and don't ask a vendor to guarantee a mention by a specific model. What you can accept are pages, markup, and checklists.
How we can help with this
If the name, services, and contact details disagree across pages, or the service pages only say 'professional, efficient, one-stop', send the URL and the one question you care about most. We will say whether to fix the entity layer or the answer layer first, then deliver against a written scope: one name and contact block, each service stated as an outcome and a deliverable, plus structured data and llms.txt.
We do not promise keyword ranks or a mention by any specific model. What you can accept is the pages, the markup, and the checklist.
